A választási kampányok változásai
A series of radical changes in society, politics and media around the world have triggered fundamental shifts in election campaigns. Today, campaigns preceding elections essentially differ from those run three or four decades ago. New style campaigns first appeared in the United States, where political and social conditions, the media environment facilitated the development of new electioneering techniques, methods, practices.
The essay focused on the question whether modern campaigning methods and practices inaugurated in the United States can pull through in Great Britain and Germany. It appears that, though wit considerable modifications, these countries can and do apply them. With modern campaigns hand in hand their negative aftereffects also penetrated Europe. What consequences modern campaigns have on democracies is the question of time – and another inquiry. Also another analysis should deal with the problematic of modern campaign technologies impregnating the emerging democracies throughout Central and Eastern Europe, since for many citizens in many of these countries, modern, high-tech campaigning will be the only electoral process they get to know.
